A CRITICAL SUPPLIER FOR US NAVY
FPPD has been manufacturing MK12 Poly Plugs, a critical component of MK200 5” ammunition, for the US Navy since 2014. The MK200 ammunition consists of only four components: the brass case, a primer, propellant, and a MK12 polymer plug.
The MK12 plug is not just a simple piece of plastic material; it serves a vital role in withstanding the high-impact forces during the loading and unloading of ammunition into the 5” gun barrel aboard Navy frigates. In the past, there were many failures caused by the MK12 poly plugs that led to malfunctions of the 5” gun. These malfunctions were caused by broken pieces of the MK12 chipping off during unloading, potentially resulting in the decommissioning of the 5” gun. Such failures amid combat would severely reduce firepower and endanger the survivability of Navy ships.
Over the past eleven years, FPPD has delivered more than 200,000 MK12 poly plugs across more than 30 lots to the US Navy, all of which passed government onsite inspections and acceptance without a single rejection. More importantly, there have been no reported field failures from the MK12 plugs delivered by FPPD throughout this period. FPPD takes pride in its impeccable track record of providing high-quality, high-performance critical components to the US Navy.
